WHAT DOES GLACE YAR MEAN?
Debbie's Grandfather and Great-Uncle owned a catering business, in Chicago, IL. A gentleman with Swedish heritage was in their employ to help in preparing their catered dinners. He was looking for olives to garnish a dish and when asked if he wanted the olives that were in the can or ones in the glass jar, he replied in his Swedish accent, "the glace yär." It's used as a play on words which refers to glass that has family ties.
WHAT KNOB SIZES ARE AVAILABLE?
The standard knobs size is 1-1/2" round with 1" projection and 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" square with 1" projection, unless otherwise noted as in our Prairie Style Knobs and Cedar Street French Door Knobs. The diameter is measured at the widest point across, length is measured from top to bottom and the projection (height) is how far it will stick out from the cupboard or drawer, generally 1 inch with our hardware. WHAT PULL SIZES ARE AVAILABLE?
Standard Pull sizes are 1" high by 3" up to 6" long with a 1" projection (height) unless otherwise noted. Please contact us for custom sizes.
KNOBS OR PULLS?
Usually it's pulls for drawers and knobs for cabinets but you see many variations on this theme. You will find well-designed examples done both ways to fit perfectly with your décor.
BCAN I ORDER ITEMS IN COLORS OTHER THAN SHOWN?
Yes. Please contact us for custom colors. Send us a paint chip, tile or fabric and we will try and match our glass to your sample as close as possible.
DO YOU HAVE FREE SHIPPING?
Yes, orders over $100 receive free shipping within the United States, Canada will be billed for shipping on a separate invoice. Currently, Glace Yar only ships to the United States and Canada.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE MY ORDER TO SHIP?
Because your order is made especially for you, the standard lead time is two to three weeks. For larger quantity orders, it will take longer. You will be kept up to date on the status of your order.
DO YOU SHIP INTERNATIONALLY?
Due to an influx in credit card fraud, we only ship to the United States and Canada.
DO YOU ACCEPT PAYPAL FOR PAYMENT PROCESSING?
Yes! You can use your PayPal account for payment or if you do not have a PayPal account you can simply pay by credit card.
DO YOU SEND SAMPLES?
We can mail sample glass pieces or a finished disc for to you to determine what glass colors will match your decor, for a minimal fee. We do not send a complete knob or pull as a sample. See our Samples Page for more information.
WHAT IS YOUR RETURN POLICY?
Due to the custom creation of each Glace Yar Stained Glass knob and pull, all sales are final. Returns will only be accepted in the case of "damage in delivery". If the item/s is proven to be defective, please contact us within 14 days of purchase to make arrangements for the item/s repair/replacement. If, under Glace Yar's determination, the item is in fact defective, Glace Yar will replace the item/s at no charge, "there are no refunds". Return postage is the responsibility of the buyer.
CAN I USE AN ELECTRIC DRILL TO MOUNT YOUR HARDWARE?
Although we use a very strong glue to attach the glass to the base on our knobs, do not use an electric drill, use a plain or phillips screwdriver. On the Pulls with a full metal base, or any knobs with a full square metal base, you can use an electric drill.
DO YOU KEEP ANY KNOBS OR PULLS IN STOCK FOR IMMEDIATE SHIPMENT?
No. Each knob/pull is custom made for you when we receive your order.
HOW DO YOU SHIP YOUR PRODUCTS?
We ship our orders via Priority Mail - USPS. Tracking numbers are emailed to you when your order ships.
HOW DO I CLEAN THE GLASS KNOBS?
Use any commercial window/glass cleaner and a soft cotton cloth as paper towel may scratch the surface. Never use an abrasive powder or cream to clean the surface of your glass hardware as it will scratch the surface.
Glace Yar products are not impervious to extreme use such as being dropped or hit as they are made using glass pieces. Our products are specially coated to withstand everyday normal wear and tear and normal room temperatures.

WHAT KIND OF STAINED GLASS IS USED IN YOUR PRODUCTS?
Cathedral, Opalescent, Glue Chip & Iridescent Glasses. Cathedral glass is one clear color, Opalescent glass is made by adding one or more colors to a milk white base and Glue Chip is a clear single or double rolled stained glass which has a fern or "jack frost" design. Iridescent glass is glass that contains a rainbow-like coloring on its surface, similar to the effect of oil on water.
We also use a custom painted glue chip glass called Van Gogh. Van Gogh Glass is a clear, glue chip glass that is painted on the back with metallic pigment. This creates a gorgeous, individual or multi-color, 3-D effect, accented with a fern-like pattern. The back of the glass is covered with black paint making the glass completely opaque. Van Gogh glass is made in the U.S.A.
HOW IS ART GLASS DIFFERENT THAN STAINED GLASS?
Stained glass is painted, art glass is created. Colored glass and art glass are basically synonyms, but neither of these terms is perfectly synonymous with stained glass. Stained glass is, literally, stained glass. It is glass that has been painted. A powder is applied to glass and then the product is kiln fired. If you paint a pane of glass blue, and fire it, your end product is blue stained glass.
Art glass is different. A blue pane of art glass is literally blue—through and through within the glass. It produces, in light, an effect that is richer and more striking than stained glass and its color does not wear down with age, but remains as brilliant as the day it was made.
At Glace Yar, we use both stained glass and art glass in our decorative hardware.
HOW DO YOU MATCH THE PRE-DRILLED HOLES IN MY CABINETS?
The stems/ferrules on the back of the pulls are individually measured and mounted and can be placed at any inch or metric "*center to center" requirement. You can also send us your old pull to be used as a template, or after removing the pull from your drawer or cabinet, place a piece of paper over both holes and with a sharp instrument, poke into each of the holes for an exact template and send to us.
*On center” is the measurement from the center of one screw hole to the center of the other screw hole. Also referred to as the center to center measurement or C-C.
IS THE GOLD IN YOUR 24KT KNOBS REAL GOLD?
Yes, the gold is a layer of genuine 24kt gold leaf (yellow and white) that has been placed between two pieces of clear glass.
IS THE MOTHER OF PEARL REAL PEARL?
Yes, each tile is the genuine nacre of Mother of Pearl.
